week 8 - why should your client employ you?

My client should employ me because I have an excellent understanding of their target audience (under graduates). I know what interests the younger generation and what appeals to them.
I have a clear understanding of what techniques I am able to use to reach the ANU message across.

The advanced diploma of photography at CIT provides me with expertise skills required to undertake this photographic aspects of this advertising campaign. My study has taught me every necessary produce's to master outstanding images. An extreme amount of effort, time and money have been funded into mastering and perfecting the skills of the aft of photography.

week - 7 address the requirements of the studio images

6 images
1 x close up
1 x glass ware image
1 x chrome/shiney object
1 x image demonstrating camera movements
2 x images from any of the above categories

There are a few ideas that i have for my studio shots, that require nothing outrageous. For the close up shots i had something simple in mind like a computer chip.
For my glass ware i was thinking something simple like test tubes. I could even go to the effort to put coloured food dye in the tubes to represent chemicals. Even something as simple as a coffee mug with books behind it. I also did happen to notice their was a interesting image done with a light bulb. When i was surfing around the ANU's book shop web site, i found they had a lot of chrome things like pens and badges. To demonstrate camera movements i could lay somethings like books across the table in a various fashion.

Looking at costs, somethings might be a bit expensive. The computer chip i could get from a old electronic device from Vinnies for a few dollars. The glass ware might be a bit hard to find, If I look around at thrift stores I am sure I will be able to find something cheap. Food dye wouldn't be to much, most likely 5 dollars or so. The chrome ware I noticed on the ANU website was expensive, pens where like 30 dollars. Books will be easy to find i can just borrow some from the library for the day.

Equipment I would need, Studio flash, flash equipment i.e snoot, flood light ect ect, Hasslebald and the Hassleblad tilt shift lens, props as i mentioned earlier, backdrops, tables and maybe a few colour gels.

Things that I need to do, put my name down on the booking time slot for gear!!!

week 6 - address the requirements of the location images

6 images
-one image must be stitched with at lease 3 source files
-one image must demonstrate balancing ambient light and artificial light source
-one image must demonstrate HDR techniques
1 x landscape image
1 x architectural interior
1 x architectural exterior
1 x industrial image
2 x images from any of the above categories

I have been to the ANU only once to scout out locations for potential images. The next time i go i shall enquirer at the student services hub about photography issues. Things such as locations i am able to have access to, places like Mt Stromlo, the cool looking building next to Stromlo and various places around the campuses.

I'm not entirely sure on the cost factors, the only thing i can think of really is petrol.

30/3/12 I shall visit the ANU and look for potential photographs, and talk to the someone in charge about access to locations.

weeks 5 - Techniques and Equipment

Identify the techniques/equipment you will need to achieve a cohesive portfolio in keeping with your client’s style.

The ANU style projects a prestigious happening environment with a plentiful opportunity’s. This is portrayed in many different ways, mainly photographs. Judging from their website and other sources, they always have the large visible ANU logo on all the images. All their photographs are simple yet effective.
(if you click on this box the ANU logo will become visible)

Each image is clear, crisp, bright, vibrant and high contrast. By the looks of it most of their outdoor images are done during sunny lovely days. So when shoot my outdoor location images, time of day will be crucial.

I have noticed a lot of their images on the web site have been cropped differently to fit in certain sections, and various locations. As such the use of panoramas.
Another example such as this, they have used this creatively cropped image as a button on the page.

Their is some instances where their is a key person, key people or even a key object. Which is out of focus (intentional) or they have used motion blur to enhance the feelings of the image. This technique is a good way to generalize the public without singling anyone out.

one cleshay image i am hoping to get is the classic shot of the telescope on top of a mountain with the star trails. (Mt Stromlo)

The equipment i am going to be using to photograph and successively capture the ANU style is going to varying depending on the situation. For location I will be needing mono blocks or portable flashes(depending on the situation), reflector(also to depending on the situation), POLARIZING FILTER!!!, tripod and a series of lens ranging from wide angle lens to long focal length zoom lens. For studio I will be needing reflectors, light meters back drops ect ect.

Here is a link to the new ANU merchandise shop, which has a lot of various gifts and what not with the ANU logo on them. This kind of equipment would be perfect for a studio shot!

week 4 - Who is you'r target audience, and how will your images help attract them?

The ANU's target audience is huge, because their courses have such variety. They are interested in national students and international students from all back grounds. Mainly anyone who is looking for a higher degree of education.
From previous advertising campaigns and by just looking around the web site, they portray a clean pristine happy environment. Students are all smiling and by the looks of it enjoying every ones company. Their are allot of images of various functions and events which add to the "happening" sense to the ANU.
Because their is such a huge diversity of the range of people the ANU's adds are direct at. I will be unable to cover them all so instead i am looking to wards targeting the undergraduates,"the younger crowd"

week 3 - ANU periovious and current advertisement campaigns.

The Australian National University is a highly regarded institution of higher education. Their advertising campaigns try to communicate their unique position as Australia's national  university and their exceptional quality of the ANU community's.

There are only two types of advertising for ANU: Campaign and non-campaign. Non-campaign refers typically to the one off ads, informing people about events, activity or programs. The campaign ads are a more comprehensive and strategic. Where they contain a number of variation of the same advertisement.

The advertisements are displayed on television, magazines and various other forms of media. each and every add have a selected target audience. 2011 target audience was directed undergraduates, graduates, higher degrees research and public service. Each add is simple yet clever. The convey each idea sleekly with a logo of the ANU.

week 2- Brief history of ANU

By the 1900 there was statements made for the introduction of a National University of Australia that was to have a research orientation. The first steps of establishing the ANU first began in the early years of the first twentieth century.

The area for the campus was chosen to be placed at the base of black mountain, by Walter Burley Griffin. David Rivett made the first detailed case for a research based university, later he was appointed head of the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) which later became the (CSRIO).

Tertiary education was formalized in 1929 with the establishment of Canberra University Collage (CUC). The center was loosely affiliated with Melbourne University. The aim was to provide Canberra undergraduate students with education, it took its first students in 1930. In August the 1st 1945 the Australian government passed the Australia National University.
