location ideas

Stitched image - For my stitched image i had something in mind with star trails, involving Mt Stromlo observatory center.

I like the full circle of stars trails and the soft light on top of the observatory. It looks as thought they have used a little bit of fill flash at the base of the tower.

hmmmm

The trail from the car looks nice, and the raising sun is interesting.

I like the vastness of the landscape in this image.

Balancing ambient light and artificial light - I am not entirely certain to what this image would be but I shal inquirer about it later on.

here is a test shoot i did the other day in the ANU library, 

i need to balance the outside and the indoor light a little better though, i thin a model reading a book could make this image work a lot better i think. 

HDR -  I'm still undecided to where or what location i am going to photograph, either a interior or an exterior.

Either HDR or architectural, i'm going to shoot this building

High contrast between the shadows and the shad.

Something shot at night from the outside. 

large indoor area like a lecture hall or a library.

Landscape - I would like to do something outside the box with this. Something on the ANU grounds but with a difernt approach, light painting? aerial? fish eye? So far I have been to a few locations that i had in mind, but no major ideas yet. Alls I know is that i would like it to be dramtic with movement and colour.

 Here the only thing I like is the idea of movement with the orange lights.

 The steel wool effect is something i would like to use, but more subtle and less messy. I have created photos before using this technique and they are alot more cleaner and nice.

 small domes look nice from a distance and not to messy either.

altought...... would these images fit with my other photos? that's the question.

 or a simple arieal shot over the campus? sourcing a plane would not be to hard.

When I last went to the ANU I noticed that the Black mountin had a perfect veiw of the area. With a long focal length lens I think it could be a nice shot.


OR! something like a miniature landscape!!!!  captured with the tilt shift lens!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

 The simplicity is nice, although my goal would be to make the place look exciting and lively, not like a town town.

 Here is something more appropriated to my folio. Their is a few people, buildings and vast space. 

This is far from what i would be shooting, but it still looks amazing.

I have now shot my landscape a good 5 times...... every time it just gets worse and worse

Architectural exterior - Something I had in mind was a fancy new modern building with cool shapes and design, like the John Curtin Medical Research Facility..... but its been done a million times. So maybe one of the biology buildings that have just been recently built, or the new uni res!.


Architectural interor - For this I had a few ideas, something really new or with a wow factor!


Industrial Image - For my industrial image i was thinking of something in one of the ANU work shops.

I went to the ANU glass work shop for a look around and a test shoot. But i was under a lot of pressure and was thinking on my feet the whole time and my shots didn't work out that well. Stupidly i shot them all on jpeg  -__- idiot......

this is the type of sots that I didn't want, because their is no one in it and its just so simple and plain.

when I went their to shoot I had and idea of doing something like this and lucky I happened to get it, its a panorama of 5 images. next shoot will be better! I hate working under pressure....

Interesting lighting

 I like this lighting, but I thinks it's a little to dark.

I like the here, but i believe it can be done much MUCH! better.

watch/small gears - demonstrating how the brain works like clock work or more in unison like gears.

The idea is here, although I feels like this is to mess. 

 This is a little to "vintage" for me.

I much rather this. It is lit well, composed nicely and there is a good contrast of colours.

My images I took

 When Brian first saw this he said he didn't like that the main focus was a massive black thing, but after looking at it on a computer screen and saw the writing on it he said it wasn't as bad.

 I liked the green in the back ground of this image and that front thing partly in focus.

This one i feel is not as effective.

second close up image: - i was going to try and target the art department. Things I had in mind where paint brushes, paint tubes, paintings.

I like the rainbow colours on the brush but by the looks of it they have used acrylic matalic paints and I only have water colours.

I like the idea of the paint tubes and how you are able to see all the colour paints oozing out. On the globs their is a nice soft box light on them.

The paints all smooshed out isn't as nice.

 I love the soft box light on the big glob of paint.

Here was my final composition i was happy with but, their was a lot of little things i didn't like about the image. For instance the space behind the red paint but, the white dot in the back ground behind the yellow and its under exposed.

Here it is fixed up, but I think it could work better if it was flowing from the left. I will do that later

Glass wear:
beakers with food dye - Simulating a science environment, showing that they are at the cutting edge of chemistry discovery.

 Here I like the composition, and the colors of the liquids. Important things i will have to look out for, is getting the colours  i.e making the colours of the liquid look like its not food dye but instead chemicals.

 The light in this scenario is a lot more professional I feel. The gradient in the back ground adds nice depth to the image.

Dutch tilt?

 Not to sure, if I was to shoot this would I have liquid in the glass. champagne or soft drink.

 I would have liked to use all of these glass ware products, but it is way to clutterd.

 So I culled it down to two items, and I also changed the lighting scheme. Before I was shooting with just the soft box as the back ground. Now i had used a white background.

I felt pretty happy with the lighting scheme, so I though it was time to test shoot with water inside. the effects that i got where a lot more intense then I had pictured but I like the way it turned out. The dark shadows on the side of the beakers could be a little lighter, but i will fix this up later. Now the only thing to do is add colour..... or maybe a few more glassware products....

well so after seeing Brian, he liked the idea of the simple white and the composition. So i decided to re shoot it again in the hopes of creating it more elegant and pleasing.

This is what I got. I filled both beakers up differently then I did before and I changed the composition of both of them. I'm very happy with it, but I feel as though it's to boring...

So I decided to play around with some gels, and experiment with colour. I much rather the bright exciting colour, but it draws away from the interesting shape and design. I would have to change to work flow of all of my images to suite and style of these if I choose to use them.

Chrome/ shiny object - A cuff link? slinky? this is something i'm still not %100 sure of, maybe something like a sculpture with an interesting design.

For my chrome wear, i'v decided to shoot my neo cube. It has a interesting yet simple design. The main problem with this is that there is a lot of reflections.

 I like the lighting in this one a little more.


If all else fails, i'm sure i could find something with this.

Image demonstrating camera movements -I would like to create a study like session on a table, having the plane of focus running across the flat surface.

 Things like iPods, books and pens.

 Here I like the idea of the tea cup, but a pot of tea is more effective for me.

Obviously not with some girl passed out on the table, but i like the composition.

after cafeful thought and planning. having the plane of focus running across the table is just to plain and simple.I still like the idea of books but not on a flat surface. I would like to have all the tiles in focus and all the books have a design purpose i.e creative industry's

 I like the dark back gound, it comes across as more of study environment.

 I like this, its pretty cool.

I like this style of composition but having the focus go along this will be hard f they are all facing different directions
